Analytical Assessment of Content and Information Services on Selected AIIMS Library Websites

4 Department of Library and Information Science, Nigerian Institute of Information Studies, Nigeria

Abstract

Library websites have become an important digital interface through which academic and medical institutions provide access to information resources, library services, institutional communication, and user support. In medical education and research environments, the quality, organization, accessibility, and usefulness of website content are particularly important because students, faculty members, clinicians, and researchers depend on timely and clearly organized information. This study analytically examines the content and information-service dimensions of selected All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) library websites. The study adopts a website content-analysis perspective, emphasizing the organization of informational resources, presentation of library services, accessibility of digital resources, user-oriented functionality, and consistency of website information. The methodological framework is informed by previous website-content studies involving healthcare organizations, university libraries, medical colleges, IISERs, and institutions of national importance. Particular attention is given to the CRRAV-oriented perspective of website assessment, which demonstrates the relevance of systematic evaluation of healthcare-related web content (Paul et al., 2024). The study identifies the importance of comprehensive service information, discoverability of resources, digital-resource visibility, navigational clarity, and user-centered presentation. The analysis further positions AIIMS library websites as strategic information-service platforms rather than merely institutional webpages. The study concludes that systematic content evaluation can help medical libraries identify information gaps, improve digital service delivery, strengthen user experience, and establish more consistent web-presence standards.
