EFFECTIVE TEAM LEADERSHIP STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESSFUL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT DELIVERY
Abstract
Effective leadership is a crucial determinant of success in construction projects, where diverse teams, complex tasks, and high levels of uncertainty converge. This paper explores the impact of leadership styles—particularly transformational and transactional—on team performance, project efficiency, and stakeholder collaboration. Drawing from current literature and real-world case studies such as the Hoover Dam and the London 2012 Olympics, the study highlights how emotionally intelligent and adaptive leaders foster flexibility, reduce conflict, and enhance cohesion in culturally diverse and high-pressure environments. Key challenges addressed include workforce turnover, stakeholder conflict, and the integration of technology like Building Information Modeling (BIM). The findings underscore that combining visionary leadership with structured management practices enables project leaders to navigate complexities, drive innovation, and achieve sustainable construction outcomes.
