Plagiarism Policy

International Journal of Social Sciences and Humanity Development (IJSSHD)

The International Journal of Social Sciences and Humanity Development (IJSSHD) is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity. Plagiarism, in any form, is strictly prohibited. This policy outlines the journal’s approach to preventing, detecting, and addressing plagiarism in submitted manuscripts.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, ideas, data, or figures from other sources without proper citation

  • Presenting another author’s work as your own

  • Self-plagiarism or redundant publication (reusing significant portions of previously published work without acknowledgment)

  • Improper paraphrasing or insufficient citation of sources

2. Originality Requirement

  • All submissions must be original work that has not been published or submitted elsewhere.

  • Authors must ensure that their work is written in their own words and that all sources are properly cited.

3. Plagiarism Detection

  • Manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software to identify similarity with published sources.

  • Editors review similarity reports and determine whether manuscripts meet acceptable originality standards.

4. Acceptable Similarity Threshold

  • A similarity index of up to 15–20% may be acceptable, excluding references, commonly used phrases, and standard methodology descriptions.

  • Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be rejected or returned for revision.

5. Handling Plagiarism Before Publication

  • Minor plagiarism: Authors may be asked to revise and correctly cite sources.

  • Major plagiarism: The manuscript may be rejected immediately, and the authors may be prohibited from submitting to IJSSHD for a specified period.

6. Handling Plagiarism After Publication

  • If plagiarism is discovered post-publication, the article may be retracted or corrected.

  • A retraction or correction notice will be published and linked to the original article.

  • The authors’ affiliated institutions may be notified if appropriate.

7. Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for:

  • Ensuring originality of their work

  • Properly citing all sources

  • Obtaining permissions for reused material

  • Submitting accurate and honest research

8. Reviewer and Editor Responsibilities

  • Reviewers and editors must report any suspected plagiarism.

  • The editorial team will investigate all allegations according to COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.

9. Consequences of Plagiarism

Consequences may include:

  • Manuscript rejection

  • Article retraction

  • Notification to affiliated institutions

  • Suspension of submission privileges

10. Appeals

  • Authors may submit a written explanation if plagiarism is suspected.

  • Final decisions rest with the Editor-in-Chief.

11. Policy Updates

  • IJSSHD reserves the right to update this Plagiarism Policy as necessary.

  • Authors are encouraged to review this policy prior to submission.

12. Compliance Statement

By submitting a manuscript to International Journal of Social Sciences and Humanity Development (IJSSHD), authors confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with this Plagiarism Policy.
